Hello! I’m Wayne Walker

How are you?

At present my career is supporting services as a qualified Freedom to Speak Up Guardian Consultant to support staff in the NHS UK Wide and in the private sector. Changing culture and improving Speaking Up, as well as supporting people in power to respond effectively.

I have been in this role since January 2016 when I changed direction in my career. Changing career is daunting at the best of times but challenges and resilience have taught me how to move forward.

Past experiences have brought me to the here and now. These experiences gained over several roles have led me to this vocation which I feel I was destined to fulfil.

The dedicated people I have met and have spoken to over that time, have driven me to become the well balanced person I am today.

Following my vocation has directed me towards a degree in Social Psychology BSc (Honours) and further self-development in Counselling and Psychology.  I have set up this practice to support people from all walks of life, to be listened to and supported, with the end goal being better clarity and direction in life.

Experiencing lockdown has been challenging. Issues such as loneliness or having someone to listen, away from the family unit, is neccessary to be able to accommodate the stresses and strains of lockdown life.

I am Covid-19 Psychological First Aid trained and have completed Mental Health First Aid training as tools to help with the associated health risks of Covid-19.

Loneliness & Isolation

It’s very likely that when asked “What’s your aim in life?” Most of us would answer to be happy. But on some days, this small and modest goal just seems light years away. The good and bad news that it’s all in our head. Even when it seems impossible to look on the bright side of things, it’s actually 100% in our power to transform the way we see life. Happiness and success are within arm’s reach.

Life Balance

It includes having good mental health, high life satisfaction, a sense of meaning or purpose, and ability to manage stress. Feelings of wellbeing are fundamental to the overall health of an individual, enabling them to successfully overcome difficulties and achieve what they want out of life. Past experiences, attitudes and outlook can all impact wellbeing as can physical or emotional trauma following specific incidents.

Anxiety & Depression

Chronic anxiety can lead to irrational thoughts and fears that interfere with your daily life. As with depression feeling down, sad, or upset is normal. It can be concerning feeling that way for several days or weeks on end. Although depression and anxiety are two separate conditions, they share many of the same treatments.
